Elite Speed 7v7 is a metro-east 7v7 football program based in Granite City, Illinois, running since 2022. It fields three age brackets, 14U, 15U and 18U, each with its own coaching staff. Skill-position players use the off-season to compete, sharpen their route and coverage work, and arrive at their next season ready.

According to the IHSA, Week 1 of the 2026 Illinois high school football season falls on August 20 to 22, and the regular season runs nine weeks before the playoffs open on October 23. The work on this page belongs to the months before that.

What 7v7 football actually is

7v7 is football with the line play taken out. Seven a side, no pads, no run game, and every single snap is a passing rep. Receivers, tight ends, running backs, corners, safeties and linebackers spend the whole session in space against each other, which is exactly the rep count a regular season never gives them.

Who it is built for

Skill-position players who want to keep developing between seasons instead of going cold. Elite Speed started the program in 2022 as a tool for those athletes to work on their game through the off-season while staying highly competitive, so they walk into their next regular season further along than they left the last one.

• Receivers and tight ends. Release, stem, separation at the top of the route, hands with a defender attached to you.
• Running backs. Route work out of the backfield and catching in traffic, the part of the job that gets the least practice time.
• Corners and safeties. Hip turn, break on the ball, and coverage decisions made at full speed instead of at a walk-through.
• Linebackers. Drops, matchups in space, and reading a quarterback’s eyes without a run fit to hide behind.

What it asks of your athlete

Attendance is mandatory at all practices and all games. This is a significant commitment and we say so up front, because the team enters every tournament intending to win every game in it, and that only works when the whole roster is in the same place every week. If your spring and summer are already stacked, tell a coach at tryouts and you will get an honest answer about whether it fits.
